How do I enable/disable chat between members of the class?

Unlike the class timeline that is visible to all members who have joined and been accepted into the class, chats are private.
Teachers can initiate a chat and open conversations with one or multiple members whenever they wish. Teachers can also enable or disable the chat between members so they can initiate or not chat with each other (but not with the teacher, only the teacher can initiate chats they are a part of).

Go to the class settings in the menu bar of the class.
