# How do I start a private chat with another parent?

Initiating private chats requires a subscription: 
- either a full package class subscription that the teacher or school subscribed to where all parents benefit from the private chat feature. 
- either a Prime subscription each member can individually choose.

Additionally, teachers must have this feature enabled in their settings for their class community. 
||| If you're considering subscribing to prime for this feature, make sure with the teacher beforehand that they are enabling it. 

###### On the WebApp [klass.ly ](https://klass.ly/):
- Go to your "chat" section 
- Click on create a new conversation,
- select the class,
- select the member(s) to include in the chat,
- start chatting :)

###### On the mobile App IOS or Android : 
- Click on the Chats Icon in the lower banner,
- In the top right corner click on the new chat icon 
- select the class,
- select the member(s) to include in the chat,
- start chatting :)

||| You can't start a chat with a classroom administrator, teacher or principal. You can contact them by clicking on "request contact" and selecting who you are trying to reach.
